Indica and Sativa
Despite it’s illegal status, there are a lot of classifications and characteristics that accompany marijuana. When we are talking about strains of marijuana, it is interesting to know the difference and understand that no two ‘buds’ are alike. Because of this, we need to understand the difference between Indica and Sativa.
Indica is the most common form of marijuana because it is more easily grown inside than Sativa.
Because of this, it is more than likely to be the first type you ever try. They are identified as being the strand that makes you feel deeply relaxed or ‘knocked out’ as some people call it.
There is a phenomenon that people experience known as ‘couch-locked’ where a particularly strong strand can make you completely relaxed to the point where you feel as though you can’t move from your position.
The most common attributes are: Muscle Relaxation Eases body Pain Minimizes Spasms/Seizures Reduces Headaches Removes Anxiety and Stress
Sativa are better kept to grow outdoors and can have stalks that reach over 20 feet high. These are the opposite of Indica and are energizing. A recreational smoker from Colorado messaged us when we were asking for information and said “Wake up with Sativa, and go to sleep with Indica. It’s that easy.”
People often cite having a creative spark that goes off and say that it is mentally stimulating.
The most common attributes are: Counters Depression Feel-Good Vibes Happy thoughts Stimulated feelings Heightened Focus
Hybrid strains are made by combining Sativa and Indica. By combining strains of Indica and Sativa, you can find amazing benefits from both. Strains such as Trainwreck and White Widow are able to create relaxing body highs with energetic creative feelings. Combining the effects let people safely find the benefits that work best for them.
Not only are hybrids becoming popular, but hybrids of hybrids are becoming popular as well. One of the most in-demand buds in places such as Colorado and California is a brand called Permafrost and is supposed to have Relaxing and happy feelings as well as being euphoric and focused.
We do not encourage the smoking of marijuana unless it is for medicinal purposes. But as more people are going to begin experimenting with medical marijuana, it is important that they, and the physicians in the field, become more educated on the science behind the drug.
